Tom Black, The Manx Myotherapist

Tom Black, The Manx Myotherapist

My name is Tom Black and I’m The Manx Myotherapist, a Myotherapist in Geelong who is passionate about helping people get the best out of their bodies and achieve their sporting and exercise goals. My treatments focus on gaining a thorough understanding of my patient with an in-depth assessment. My treatment tool box includes various modalities: a range of massage techniques, dry needling, electrical stimulation dry needling, mobilisation, cupping, functional release cupping and exercise prescription.

Originally, I am from the Isle of Man and grew up with a keen interest in cycling. In 2010, I competed in the Commonwealth Games for the Isle of Man, where I was part of the team who supported fellow Manxman and Tour de France champion, Mark Cavendish. My involvement in cycling, the relentless training and the focus on my physical health led to a burgeoning interest in the human body, notably the muscular system.

Due to this, I decided to train as a Massage Therapist in the Isle of Man, where I opened my own clinic called TBM Therapy. My patients included many of the island’s top amateur and professional athletes including MotoGP ace, Cal Crutchlow.

At the end of 2015, I left the Isle of Man to embark upon an Aussie adventure. Since then, I’ve gained new knowledge in my field by working as a trainer for VFL team Box Hill Hawks and a soigneur for JLT Condor pro cycling team, as well as being head trainer for Frankston YCW Football club, where I was lucky enough to be part of the club for two of their four consecutive premiership wins!

Most recently, I have graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science in Clinical Myotherapy. This, along with over 10 years of experience working as a Massage Therapist, has allowed me to help countless people recover from pain, prepare for upcoming sporting events and improve their strength and quality of life. I enjoy building strong relationships with regular patients as well as helping and providing ongoing support to new patients.
